Monday, October 3rd at 4:55pm, I got the call.
I'm moving to Iqaluit, Nunavut. After 6 months of applying, researching, waiting, calling, pleading, nagging - it's finally my turn.
Looks
like I'll be arriving approximately November 7th. A whole month away,
but mere days when you consider everything I have to do! Check out the 'Moving North...' tab to see where I've come, and the tab titled 'The List' to see what I've got to do in the coming weeks (feel free to comment on the list page if you think I might've forgotten something). ;)
And
so my adventure begins! I'll try to update as much as I can while I go
through this process (after all, I've gained SO much from other Nunavut Bloggers. I'd really like to contribute to the wealth of information for future Quallunaat (non-Inuit folks)
who want to become Iqalummiut (residents of Iqaluit)/Nunamiut (resident
of Nunavut)! I'll do my best!).
Sure hope I used those translations correctly...... ;)
I thought I'd follow your journey, since you followed mine. Congratulations. I remember all of the feelings that overwhelmed me when I got my call. I'm excited for you, and envious. Hold onto the high. I cant wait to meet you and introduce you to all of your future friends :) We work hard but we party alright too, I'm sure you'll like us. ReplyDeleteREALLY?? All they will tell me is that it's a two bedroom and a five minute walk from the store. Hope you're right! :)
ReplyDeleteI met my roommate last week, she seems very nice and not too crazy - haha. We'll see how it goes... She's supposed to arrive on the 5th - I'll be there on the 7th (expecting to get the crummy room - hahaha).
Thanks for following, and offering to introduce me to people... :) I hope the high lasts forever - I'd hate to start missing the wonder of it all.

Oh we thought they were putting you in a one bedroom. I'm trying to think now, what two bedrooms we have availble. You must be in one of the other buildings. Regardless, you'll be close by :) Super excited
ReplyDeleteI actually wrote and asked how I could go about getting on some kind of list to move into a single should it become available, and lo and behold - they wrote me thursday afternoon to let me know that I will now be living by myself - huzzah!! Maybe now I'll be just across/down the hall from you...
